Although having had no formal training as an artist I have always had an overriding passion to paint. Born and raised in Tenby, I went on to attend University in Cardiff, qualifying as an Architect and practising for many years both there and in London. In 1999 I returned to Pembrokeshire, to my present home “High Seas” where I combine painting with my profession as an Architect.
Much of my early work was in the medium of watercolour, however I now reserve watercolour for sketching and for developing ideas. My finished works are now exclusively in oil as I find the vibrancy of colour and the pure pleasure of applying and working the paint is a joy.
An increase in demand for my architectural watercolours led to an exhibition of paintings at the Coach House Gallery in Caerphilly where all the paintings exhibited were sold. My work has shown at various galleries and has featured a number of times at the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London.
Whilst I remain versatile with my subject matter and have gained a reputation in the subject of portraiture, my favourite inspiration is my hometown, the sea, and in particular the harbour, boats and seasonal moods of the town.
